Cassaundra Rouse has been named one of Chicago Business's Notable Black Leaders for her demonstrated excellence on the job, in the transportation industry, and in her community.
Transportation Industry veteran
As Executive Director, Cassaundra Rouse oversees the state of Illinois’s 294-mile Illinois Tollway system, which supports five roadways across 12 counties in Northern Illinois.
She is responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of nearly 1,400 employees, providing a safe, effective, and efficient toll highway system and ensuring the highest possible level of customer service for the Tollway’s nearly 1.6 million daily drivers. In addition, Rouse oversees the Tollway’s 16-year, $15 billion Move Illinois capital program, now in its 13th year.
Seasoned Professional
Cassaundra Rouse has an impressive background and significant experience with top-tier firms like Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen. Her current role as Executive Director involves overseeing major projects, operations, and policy decisions.
She also served as a board member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), serving as treasurer and vice president of education. She was one of the co-founding members of the Government Advisory Committee to the IIA Board and, in 2016, was the recipient of the IIA’s William C. Anderson Award, which recognizes an individual who has made the most outstanding contribution to the chapter that year.
